Jeremiah 51:35
“May the violence done to me and to my flesh be on Babylon!” the inhabitant of Zion will say; and, “May my blood be on the inhabitants of Chaldea!” will Jerusalem say.”
What does Jeremiah 51:35 mean?
When Jerusalem speaks these words, she's calling out for justice after Babylon has destroyed her people and city. The "violence done to me and my flesh" refers to the real suffering of Zion's inhabitants, the bloodshed and brutality they endured during conquest and exile. This isn't a cry for revenge so much as a plea that God will hold the wrongdoers accountable, that their cruelty won't simply vanish into history forgotten.
