Jeremiah 51:25
““Behold, I am against you, destroying mountain,” says Yahweh, “which destroys all the earth. I will stretch out my hand on you, roll you down from the rocks, and will make you a burned mountain.”
What does Jeremiah 51:25 mean?
God is speaking to Babylon here, one of the ancient world's most powerful empires, calling it a "destroying mountain." In that time, mountains symbolized strength, permanence, and dominance, so describing Babylon this way meant acknowledging its real power while also announcing its coming collapse. God's point isn't that He enjoys destruction, but that He will dismantle this nation that has caused so much harm to His people and others.
