Jeremiah 50:35

What does Jeremiah 50:35 mean?
Jeremiah speaks here as God's messenger, announcing judgment against Babylon, the powerful empire that had conquered Judah and taken many people into exile. The "sword" represents war and destruction coming as divine judgment, not random chaos but consequences for how Babylon had treated others and turned from God. What makes this promise significant is that it includes everyone, from rulers and princes down to the so-called "wise men." Sometimes we imagine that intelligence, status, or good planning can protect us from the consequences of our choices, but Jeremiah insists that no amount of human cleverness or power can shield us from God's justice.
