What does Jeremiah 50:31 mean?
God is speaking directly to Babylon here, calling out the nation's arrogance and announcing that accountability is finally arriving. "Your day has come" means the consequences they've sown through their cruelty and pride are about to be reaped, and God himself is the one bringing that reckoning. This message would have been deeply comforting to the people of Judah who were suffering under Babylonian captivity, showing them that God hadn't forgotten their pain or abandoned his justice. The underlying truth carries forward: pride that makes us think we're above God's standards eventually meets a day of reckoning, while those who cry out to God in their suffering can trust he sees and will act.
