Jeremiah 50:2
““Declare among the nations and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and don’t conceal: say, ‘Babylon has been taken, Bel is disappointed, Merodach is dismayed! Her images are disappointed. Her idols are dismayed.’”
What does Jeremiah 50:2 mean?
God is calling his people to boldly announce that Babylon, the mighty empire that seemed invincible, will fall. Bel and Merodach were the chief gods the Babylonians trusted in, so when the prophet declares these gods are "disappointed" and "dismayed," he's saying their supposed protectors will be powerless to save them.
