What does Jeremiah 49:15 mean?

God is speaking here to the Edomites, a neighboring nation that had grown proud and relied on their mountain strongholds for security. The message is that no matter how fortified or confident they felt, God would reduce their influence and reputation to nothing. This wasn't meant as comfort to Jeremiah's audience (the people of Judah), but as a warning that God's judgment comes for those who trust in their own strength and forget Him. When we're going through seasons of loss or humiliation, this verse can actually offer something steadying: it reminds us that being made small in the eyes of the world isn't the final word on our worth or our future. God sees and orchestrates outcomes that human power cannot control.
