Jeremiah 44:6
“Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is today.’”
What does Jeremiah 44:6 mean?
God is describing the destruction that came to Judah and Jerusalem as a direct result of the people's rebellion and unfaithfulness. The prophet Jeremiah is reminding his audience that the ruins and emptiness they see around them, in their own cities and neighborhoods, are real consequences of turning away from God. This isn't meant as a distant threat but as something visible in their daily lives, a tangible reminder of what happens when a community systematically rejects God's guidance. Even in that hard reality, God is speaking through the prophet to call people back, offering them the chance to learn and turn around before it's too late.
