What does Jeremiah 44:30 mean?
God is promising through Jeremiah that Egypt's pharaoh will fall to his enemies, just as Judah's king fell to the Babylonians. This wasn't a threat meant to terrify, but rather a word of warning to the Jewish refugees who had fled to Egypt after Jerusalem's destruction, hoping Egypt would protect them. The message was: don't trust in Egypt's power or think you've escaped God's judgment by running away. God's sovereignty extends over all nations and all rulers, not just Israel. For people in any hard season, this carries a deeper truth: there's no place we can run where God isn't still present, and genuine safety comes only through turning toward him, not through our own schemes or alliances.
