What does Jeremiah 38:8 mean?

Ebedmelech, an Ethiopian official serving King Zedekiah, stepped out of the palace to address the king directly. This moment came after the prophet Jeremiah had been thrown into a cistern by hostile officials who wanted him silenced for his warnings about Jerusalem's coming defeat. What makes this significant is that Ebedmelech was a foreigner and a servant, yet he had the courage to contradict the king's own court and advocate for Jeremiah's life. His willingness to speak up shows that doing the right thing sometimes requires stepping out of your place and risking your standing to protect someone vulnerable.
