What does Jeremiah 38:10 mean?
King Zedekiah had thrown the prophet Jeremiah into a muddy cistern as punishment for speaking uncomfortable truths about Jerusalem's coming defeat. An Ethiopian official named Ebedmelech, moved by compassion, spoke up to the king about the injustice, and Zedekiah responded by giving him authority to rescue the prophet.
