““So Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to Yahweh’s word, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours. What does Jeremiah 32:8 mean?
Jeremiah was imprisoned during the siege of Jerusalem, sitting in the court of the guard as a prisoner, when his cousin Hanamel suddenly appeared asking him to buy land. This seems absurd on the surface, since the Babylonian army was closing in and property would soon be worthless.
