“because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger: they, their kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.”
What does Jeremiah 32:32 mean?
Jeremiah is describing how widespread the turning away from God had become, reaching into every level of society. From ordinary people to those in positions of power and spiritual authority, everyone had gotten pulled into practices that hurt others and rejected God's ways. The prophet isn't singling anyone out as uniquely bad, but rather showing that this wasn't a problem confined to one group or class of people, it had infected the whole community. This matters because it explains why the consequences were so severe: when a whole society drifts away from what's right, the damage becomes systemic and the path back becomes harder for everyone.
