What does Jeremiah 32:26 mean?
This simple opening marks the beginning of God's direct word to the prophet Jeremiah during one of the darkest moments of his life. Jeremiah had just purchased land in his hometown while Jerusalem was under siege, an act that seemed foolish to everyone around him, and he cried out to God asking why He'd told him to do something so strange. What follows is God's answer, explaining that this purchase was meant to be a sign of hope: that one day people would again buy and sell property in the land because God would restore His people. Even when circumstances look impossible and our obedience doesn't make sense, God can be working to accomplish something meaningful.
