Jeremiah 3:14
““Return, backsliding children,” says Yahweh; “for I am a husband to you. I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.”
What does Jeremiah 3:14 mean?
God is calling people back to him after they've wandered away, comparing his relationship with them to a marriage bond. The promise that he'll gather even small groups, one from a city and two from a family, suggests that restoration doesn't require everyone to return at once or all at once, just a faithful remnant willing to come home. Despite their unfaithfulness, God still claims them as his own and invites them into restored relationship and belonging in Zion, his holy place. There's comfort here for anyone who feels they've drifted too far: God still identifies as committed to us and actively reaches out to bring us back.
