Jeremiah 26:12
“Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying, “Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.”
What does Jeremiah 26:12 mean?
Jeremiah is standing before the people and their leaders, and he's being direct about his mission: God sent him to deliver hard messages about what's coming for Jerusalem and the temple. He's not making this up or speaking on his own authority, and he's not softening his words to please the crowd. What he's said, he's said because he believed God called him to say it, and he's owning that completely even as people were likely angry or dismissive of him. There's something vulnerable in this moment. Jeremiah is essentially saying, "I know you don't like hearing this, but I'm here because I was sent."
