Jeremiah 26:10

When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to Yahweh’s house; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house.

What does Jeremiah 26:10 mean?

Jeremiah has just proclaimed God's hard message in the temple, warning that Jerusalem will fall unless the people repent, and now the religious and political leaders have gotten wind of it. The princes gather at the temple gate, which was apparently a place where important judicial and political decisions happened. They're coming to investigate what this prophet is saying and probably to decide what to do about him, which puts Jeremiah in a dangerous position. This moment captures how God's word often creates friction between faithful speaking and earthly power, forcing people to choose whether they'll listen or silence the messenger.
