Jeremiah 25:7
““Yet you have not listened to me,” says Yahweh; “that you may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt.””
What does Jeremiah 25:7 mean?
God is telling the people of Judah that they've ignored His repeated warnings through the prophets, and this stubborn refusal to listen has led them to worship idols and pursue injustice. When He says their actions provoke Him to anger, He's describing the natural consequence of turning away from wisdom and goodness, not an out-of-control rage. The real tragedy isn't God's anger but the damage they're bringing on themselves, like a child who keeps touching a hot stove despite being warned. This message comes near the end of Jeremiah's long ministry, after decades of calls to repentance that went unheeded.
