Jeremiah 25:4
“Yahweh has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them (but you have not listened or inclined your ear to hear),”
What does Jeremiah 25:4 mean?
God had been reaching out to his people through prophets for generations, sending messenger after messenger with warnings and invitations to turn back to him. The phrase "rising up early and sending them" captures how persistent and patient he was, like someone waking before dawn repeatedly to try to connect with someone they love. Yet despite all these attempts, the people consistently refused to listen or even pay attention. This verse sits in a moment of reckoning, where Jeremiah is laying out the long history of God's faithfulness contrasted with human stubbornness, right before announcing the consequences of that rejection.
