What does Jeremiah 23:29 mean?

God is describing His word as having real power to transform us, not just intellectual interest. Like fire, it can burn away what doesn't belong in our lives, warming us and refining us. Like a hammer striking rock, it can break through the hardness we build up in our hearts, creating cracks where new growth becomes possible. This comes from a time when false prophets were offering people comfortable lies, so God wanted His people to understand that true words from Him carry weight and consequence. They're not meant to entertain or leave us unchanged. When God speaks, something actually happens in us.
