“Inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how greatly to be pitied you will be when pangs come on you, the pain as of a woman in travail!”
What does Jeremiah 22:23 mean?
The prophet Jeremiah is speaking to the king of Judah through this image of someone nestled safely in Lebanon's great cedar trees. These cedars were symbols of strength, wealth, and security in ancient times, and the king felt protected and proud in his palace built with cedar wood.
