What does Jeremiah 2:23 mean?
Jeremiah is using sharp, almost startling imagery here to confront people who claim they're faithful to God while their actions tell a different story. He's saying: look at yourselves honestly, look at the evidence of where you've actually gone and what you've actually done, because your behavior shows you've abandoned God for false gods and idols, just as much as a camel instinctively knows its own worn paths. The "valley" likely refers to the valley where pagan worship happened in Jerusalem, making this both literal and metaphorical—he's inviting them to see with their own eyes the places they've gone. What makes this so cutting is that the people were apparently denying the problem entirely, claiming innocence while living unfaithfully.
