Jeremiah 2:20
““For long ago I broke off your yoke, and burst your bonds. You said, ‘I will not serve;’ for on every high hill and under every green tree you bowed yourself, playing the prostitute.”
What does Jeremiah 2:20 mean?
God is reminding Israel of how he freed them from slavery in Egypt, breaking the chains that held them captive. Yet instead of remaining faithful to him in gratitude, they immediately turned to worship other gods everywhere they went, in every place they could find.
