Jeremiah 2:10
“For pass over to the islands of Kittim, and see; and send to Kedar, and consider diligently; and see if there has been such a thing.”
What does Jeremiah 2:10 mean?
Jeremiah is inviting people to look across the whole known world—from the distant islands in the west (Kittim, representing the Mediterranean regions) all the way to the desert peoples of the east (Kedar, in Arabia). He's asking them to search everywhere and really think hard about what they'll find. The point is this: God is claiming that nowhere else will you find a nation that has abandoned its gods the way Israel has abandoned him. Other peoples, even those who worship false gods, stay loyal to what they believe in. But Israel keeps turning away from the God who rescued them and showed them constant love. It's the shock of unfaithfulness, not just to a rule but to a relationship. God is essentially saying, "Look around the entire world if you want—you won't find this kind of betrayal anywhere else."
