Jeremiah 18:21
“Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless, and widows. Let their men be killed, and their young men struck by the sword in battle.”
What does Jeremiah 18:21 mean?
Jeremiah is expressing the depth of his anguish and anger toward people who have rejected God's message and plotted against him. This isn't a prayer God endorses, but rather an honest cry from someone in genuine pain, similar to the raw emotions we see in other psalms and laments throughout Scripture. What makes this important is that God allows Jeremiah to voice these feelings rather than pretend they don't exist.
