What does Jeremiah 17:27 mean?
God through the prophet Jeremiah is warning the people of Jerusalem that their refusal to honor the Sabbath—a day set apart for rest and spiritual focus—will have serious consequences. The imagery of fire consuming the city's gates and palaces represents destruction and judgment that will come if they continue ignoring this call to obedience.
