What does Jeremiah 15:2 mean?
Jeremiah is delivering one of God's hardest messages to Jerusalem as judgment approaches. When people desperately ask him where they can flee to escape the coming destruction, he's instructed to tell them the truth: there is no escape route because God has already determined their fate through the consequences of their unfaithfulness. This isn't meant to be cruel, but rather honest. Different groups will meet different ends (death, warfare, starvation, exile) not because God arbitrarily chose it, but because they have repeatedly rejected His warnings and turned from Him. Jeremiah's role is to stop offering false comfort and instead speak reality, so people might finally turn back to God rather than trust in their own failed plans.
