What does Jeremiah 13:20 mean?

Jeremiah is calling Jerusalem to face a harsh reality: enemies are advancing from the north, and the people God entrusted to their care are being scattered and lost. The "flock" refers to the citizens and children of Judah, whom the leaders were meant to protect and shepherd. This is a wake-up call wrapped in heartbreak, asking leaders to look up from denial and see the consequences of their neglect and unfaithfulness. The image of a shepherd's flock being taken or lost would have pierced the hearts of Jeremiah's original listeners, reminding them of their sacred responsibility and what they had failed to preserve.
