What does Jeremiah 12:10 mean?
God is expressing deep sorrow over how his people have been led astray and harmed by their leaders. The "shepherds" are the rulers and spiritual guides who were supposed to care for God's people (the "vineyard"), but instead they exploited them and led them away from God. By comparing the land to a vineyard that's been trampled and ruined, Jeremiah captures both the physical destruction happening in Judah and the spiritual damage caused by corrupt leadership.
