Jeremiah 11:8

Yet they didn’t obey, nor turn their ear, but everyone walked in the stubbornness of their evil heart. Therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they didn’t do them.’”

What does Jeremiah 11:8 mean?

God is describing what happened when His people refused to listen to His guidance and instead chose their own way. Even though He had made a covenant with them, laying out both blessings for obedience and consequences for disobedience, they hardened their hearts and went their own direction. When people persistently ignore God's voice and keep choosing what they want despite knowing better, there are real consequences, and God allowed those promised results to unfold. This isn't God punishing out of anger, but rather the natural outcome of rejecting wisdom and protection.
