Jeremiah 11:10
“They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words. They have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.”
What does Jeremiah 11:10 mean?
Jeremiah is describing a painful pattern: the people of Israel and Judah are repeating the spiritual mistakes of their ancestors rather than learning from them. Instead of following God and keeping their covenant with Him, they've turned to worshiping other gods, just as their forefathers did. What makes this especially grieving for God (and for Jeremiah, who delivers this message) is that this wasn't ignorance or accident. Their ancestors had been warned, and now this generation is making the same choice deliberately, walking away from relationship with God despite knowing better.
