What does Jeremiah 10:14 mean?
Jeremiah is describing how people have become disconnected from God's truth, turning instead to idols they've made with their own hands. The prophet points out that even the craftspeople who pour so much skill and hope into creating these golden images eventually realize their mistake, because no carved or cast object can actually give life or guidance, no matter how beautiful or expensive it is. This speaks to something deeply human: we can invest tremendous effort into things that ultimately leave us empty. Whether it's ancient idols or modern substitutes we chase for security and meaning, they all share the same fundamental problem, they're made of dead material and can't actually meet the deeper hunger in our souls.
