What does Jeremiah 1:9 mean?
When Jeremiah hesitated at his calling to be a prophet, God responded with a gesture of commissioning: touching his mouth and filling it with divine words. This wasn't magic or removal of Jeremiah's own voice, but rather God's way of saying, "I'm equipping you for this task. What you speak will carry my truth." It's a deeply personal moment in which God acknowledges the prophet's fear while also making clear that the weight of speaking God's message wouldn't rest on Jeremiah's shoulders alone.
