What does Jeremiah 1:12 mean?

God is affirming something Jeremiah has just witnessed in a vision, telling him that what he sees coming will actually happen. When God says "I watch over my word to perform it," he's making a profound promise: the things he speaks into existence aren't empty wishes or distant hopes, but commitments he actively guards and brings to completion. This reassurance came at the very beginning of Jeremiah's calling, before he faced decades of rejection and hardship, reminding him that God's purposes won't fail even when circumstances look impossible. It's a word for anyone who feels like their faith or prayers matter: what God promises, he personally oversees until it comes to pass.
