James 2:1
“My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality.”
What does James 2:1 mean?
James is asking us to examine whether we're actually living out what we believe about Jesus. If we truly trust in Christ, we can't simultaneously treat people differently based on their wealth, appearance, or social status, because that contradicts everything Jesus taught and modeled. He's not saying you need to feel the same emotions toward everyone, but rather that your *choices* and how you include people should reflect genuine faith, not the world's way of ranking people by their usefulness or polish. This matters because partiality reveals what we actually value, and if we're showing favoritism, it suggests we've let the world's priorities creep into our hearts more than we realize.
