What does Isaiah 7:5 mean?
When Isaiah speaks these words, the northern kingdoms of Syria and Israel (represented by Ephraim and the king's son) are threatening Judah with military invasion. The prophet is assuring King Ahaz that their evil schemes won't succeed because God is aware of their plans and has not abandoned His people. This is meant to bring comfort and perspective during a time of real political danger, reminding the king that human threats, no matter how serious they seem, are never beyond God's view or control. Even when we face opposition or feel threatened by others' intentions toward us, this verse invites us to remember that God sees what's happening and stands as our ultimate defender.
