Isaiah 63:11

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, “Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among them?”

What does Isaiah 63:11 mean?

In this moment of longing, the prophet Isaiah is reflecting on God's faithfulness during Israel's wilderness journey after leaving Egypt. He's asking where that same God is now, invoking the memory of how Moses led the people and how God's Spirit sustained them through impossible circumstances. It's a prayer born from pain and confusion, the kind we might recognize when life feels abandoned and we find ourselves wondering if God who moved so powerfully before can still be trusted now. The question itself becomes an act of faith, because remembering what God has done opens a door to believing He might do it again.
