Isaiah 51:4
““Listen to me, my people; and hear me, my nation: for a law will go out from me, and I will establish my justice for a light to the peoples.”
What does Isaiah 51:4 mean?
God is speaking here to people who feel distant from him, reassuring them that his purpose hasn't been abandoned. He's saying that the justice and guidance he offers isn't meant only for his own people, but will eventually shine out as an example and blessing to all nations around them. There's real comfort in those opening words, "Listen to me, my people," because they affirm belonging even when circumstances feel hopeless. God is inviting his people to trust that their suffering isn't pointless, that his standards of fairness and mercy are still at work, and that they have a role to play in making his character known to a watching world. It's a call to hold on when faith feels thin.
