Isaiah 51:2
“Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many.”
What does Isaiah 51:2 mean?
When life feels impossibly small or lonely, God invites us to remember Abraham and Sarah, who started with nothing but a promise. God is reminding his people that he has always been in the business of taking one person's faith and multiplying it into something vast and fruitful. The historical weight here matters: Abraham and Sarah were already elderly when God called them, and they had no children, yet God saw their potential and commitment. By pointing back to their story, Isaiah is essentially saying, "Look at what God did for people who seemed like the least likely candidates for blessing. He can do it again for you."
