Isaiah 51:10
“Isn’t it you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?”
What does Isaiah 51:10 mean?
When Isaiah wrote this, he was reminding the Israelites of how God parted the Red Sea during their escape from Egypt, allowing them to cross on dry ground while their pursuers drowned. He's using that old story as proof that God can do impossible things for his people. The prophet is speaking to people in exile, facing their own impossible situation, and asking them to remember: the same God who moved an entire ocean doesn't abandon his people when they're trapped. If he could remake geography itself for rescue before, why doubt him now? It's a question meant to stir up hope and trust when circumstances look completely hopeless.
