What does Isaiah 5:15 mean?

When we're caught up in pride or convinced of our own importance, it's easy to forget how small we really are in the grand scheme of things. Isaiah is describing a reality that plays out again and again in human history: those who build themselves up through arrogance eventually face circumstances that strip away that false confidence and bring them back down to earth. Whether through failure, loss, or simply encountering something bigger than themselves, proud people eventually meet their match. The verse suggests this isn't random bad luck, but a kind of natural consequence built into how the world works, a humbling that can actually be necessary medicine for the soul.
