Isaiah 49:13
“Sing, heavens; and be joyful, earth; and break out into singing, mountains: for Yahweh has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted.”
What does Isaiah 49:13 mean?
The prophet Isaiah invites all of creation itself, to celebrate because God has finally acted. He's speaking to people in exile, far from home and heartbroken, and he's announcing that their suffering is being noticed and answered. There's something powerful about calling the mountains and earth to sing before the people themselves do. It's as if the whole universe is being called to witness and rejoice in God's comfort arriving.
