Isaiah 48:7
“They are created now, and not from of old; and before today you didn’t hear them; lest you should say, ‘Behold, I knew them.’”
What does Isaiah 48:7 mean?
God is reminding the people of Israel that the things he's about to do are genuinely new, not part of some pattern they could have predicted or claimed to understand beforehand. He's saying he's revealing these plans for the first time so that when they happen, no one can boast that they already knew about it or saw it coming. It's a way of establishing that what God does is sovereign and surprising, not something humans can take credit for knowing or controlling. There's something tender in this, actually: God seems to want the credit for his faithfulness to belong entirely to him, not to human foresight or wisdom.
