Isaiah 48:3
βI have declared the former things from of old; yes, they went out of my mouth, and I revealed them. I did them suddenly, and they happened.β
What does Isaiah 48:3 mean?
God is reminding his people that he's already proven himself trustworthy by fulfilling prophecies in the past. He spoke things into being, and they came to pass, often in ways that surprised people with their suddenness and certainty. This is meant to comfort those who are uncertain about what God is saying now, because his track record shows that his words aren't empty promises. When you're facing doubt or anxiety about whether God's promises will really come through, this verse invites you to look back at how he's already shown up in history and in your own life, and to trust that same faithfulness moving forward.
