“For my own sake, for my own sake, I will do it; for how would my name be profaned? I will not give my glory to another.”
What does Isaiah 48:11 mean?
God is reassuring His people that He will act on their behalf, not because they've earned it through perfect behavior, but because His own reputation is at stake. When God makes a promise and then abandons His people, it damages His credibility and character in the eyes of the world. He's saying that restoring Israel matters to Him personally, not as a favor they deserve, but as something essential to who He is.
