Isaiah 43:9

β€œLet all the nations be gathered together, and let the peoples be assembled. Who among them can declare this, and show us former things? Let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified; or let them hear, and say, β€œThat is true.””

What does Isaiah 43:9 mean?

God is challenging the nations and their gods to prove their power by predicting the future or explaining the past, the way only the true God can do. Isaiah is inviting them to bring their witnesses and evidence, as if in a courtroom, to show they have real authority. The point is that false gods can't actually accomplish anything, but Israel's God has already shown divine power through history and knows what's coming. This is meant to reassure God's people during exile that their God is real and in control, unlike the powerless idols around them.
