Isaiah 41:23
“Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods. Yes, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and see it together.”
What does Isaiah 41:23 mean?
God is challenging the false gods worshipped by Israel's neighbors to prove their power by predicting the future or performing actual deeds, good or bad. The point is that real divinity shows itself through concrete action and knowledge beyond human reach, not empty claims. God will soon prove His superiority by bringing Israel out of exile, something only the true God could accomplish. This verse invites us to look at the evidence: where is real power shown, and who actually delivers on their promises?
