Isaiah 41:17

The poor and needy seek water, and there is none. Their tongue fails for thirst. I, Yahweh, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

What does Isaiah 41:17 mean?

When people are desperate and depleted, with nothing left to sustain them, God promises they won't be abandoned. The image of thirst represents any deep need—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—that leaves us feeling utterly spent. God isn't saying hardship won't happen; rather, God is making a personal commitment to show up for those who have nowhere else to turn. This offer comes with God's name attached, making it both a solemn promise and an invitation to call out when you're struggling.
