“It will happen, that he who is left in Zion, and he who remains in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even everyone who is written among the living in Jerusalem;”
What does Isaiah 4:3 mean?
When Isaiah describes those who remain in Jerusalem as "holy," he's speaking to people who've endured exile and loss. The promise here is that survival itself becomes a mark of God's grace, not something you've earned through moral perfection. Being "written among the living" means your name is recorded in God's book of those who belong to him, suggesting that what matters most isn't your reputation or past mistakes, but whether you're genuinely alive in your relationship with God.
