Isaiah 37:33
““Therefore Yahweh says concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither will he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.”
What does Isaiah 37:33 mean?
During a terrifying siege, when Assyria's vast army had surrounded Jerusalem and mocked King Hezekiah's faith, God made this stunning promise through the prophet Isaiah. The Assyrian king would not breach the city's walls, would not even get close enough to launch arrows or build siege ramps, because God himself would stop him. This wasn't about Jerusalem's military strength (they were vastly outnumbered) but about God's protection of his people and his purposes. Sometimes when we're backed into a corner and everything looks impossible, God invites us to trust that he sees what we cannot see and has authority over forces far larger than our circumstances.
