What does Isaiah 37:14 mean?
When King Hezekiah receives a threatening letter from the Assyrian king demanding surrender, his first instinct is to bring it directly to God. Rather than consulting his generals or drafting a response, he literally takes the letter into the temple and spreads it out before the Lord, as if saying, "I'm laying this problem at your feet." It's a powerful picture of someone in genuine distress choosing prayer and transparency with God over panic or self-reliance. Hezekiah doesn't hide the bad news or try to handle it alone, but instead brings his full situation, including the written threat, into God's presence. This shows us that when we're afraid or facing something overwhelming, we're invited to bring our worry, our documents, our circumstances exactly as they are, right to God.
